Hey hey,

I don’t know who needs to hear this (pointing at myself), but did the year actually end… or did we just change costumes and walk back into the same scene?

I caught myself somewhere between reflection and confusion this week, whispering, “Wait…is this still 2025 or am I glitching in the matrix?”

The truth is: the year came in hot. And so did I. Not by intention, but perhaps by the fatigue inertia of 2025. It’s like I blinked and suddenly we were off to the races, inboxes full, energy low, and everyone shouting “New Year, New Me” while I was still looking for my lip gloss and wellness gummies.

But here’s one thing I am clear about:
I don’t do New Year’s Resolutions.
I do real solutions.
Solutions that respect my nervous system.
Solutions that don’t require me to sprint before I stretch.
Solutions that remind me that rest is a (my main) resource.

Besides, January is meant for rest. Our bodies are biologically wired for shorter days and less sunlight increases melatonin, gently nudging us toward slower mornings and deeper sleep…for a reason. Nature models this for us beautifully! Everything around us is standing still, conserving its energy, and restoring itself quietly without pressure. Imagine if you stepped outside and the trees that were just leafless in December are now sprouting out full, lush green leaves? That would be a bit weird, right?

After the emotional, physical, and social sprint of the holidays, January offers a necessary exhale and a chance to decompress, recalibrate, and tend to our inner-self.

Hustling out of the gate with pressure-packed goals, glittery color-coded checklists, and effective calendar domination plans is like walking toward a cliff with great posture with a cup of Joe in one hand and a shiny new planner in the other.

For me and my pulse rate, I’m choosing presence & passion over performance. Reflection & pausing over reaction. And yes, naps (even power ones) over nonsense.

Real, meaningful, sustainable leadership doesn’t require noise. It’s not overly boisterous or flashy. It’s not about the declarations or stances you make. It’s about the daily decisions that protect your peace, your purpose, and your people.

So here’s your official welcome (back) to The Friday FWD.

And this year? Let’s do it differently. Let’s not chase the version of ourselves the world expects. Instead, let’s nurture the version we actually need.

And at the center of it all, let me be perfectly clear:

Wellness is your not-so-secret sauce.

It’s your fuel. Your filter. Your fortress.

So whether you’re coming in hot, dragging your heels, or floating in on vibes alone, just know this:

You’re not behind. You’re just beginning. And you’re right where you’re meant to be.

And beginning with this type of awareness is the boldest move you can make.
